Your system is, I think, the future for most of the first world population: there are too many of us and we consume too much water.

Here in the UK - that "green & pleasant land" - the need for not wasting treated drinking water has seen another push this year with reservoirs depleted in what passes for a drought (other countries would laugh their socks off).

My garden is the epitome of the hollyhocks & roses English country garden, but it all needs watering when the climate decides not to play ball. We have six 40gallon drums connected to our two gutters, and everyone takes a 5 gallon bucket (or two) into the shower with them. 4 pint milk containers are on standby at every sink to collect cold water from the hot tap while the heated water works its way through.

You are right to do what you've done: you have the space and the funds, but we can all do a bit. The rewards aren't just in green surroundings, but in lower water bills.
