I'm in the UK and lucky enough to have a garden. My best working compost bin is an old tea chest with its rotten bottom knocked out and sat on the ground behind a tree - so about the same size as your plastic patio bin. We don't add citrus peels - we eat a lot and our climate makes for a slow compost, but worms love it.
